What is Lance-Kitty?
The Lance-Kitty strategy is centered around Lancelot because he can do 33% damage to any enemy in the game in a single hit. This happens using his passive ability Flame which deals a percentage of the enemy's total health as damage whenever Lance deals skill damage. This triggers once on his Flame Slash skill, twice on his Sunspot Explosion skill and a whopping 10 times on his ultimate Flame Pillar, which is the attack that does 33% damage.
This means you can kill even the hardest bosses in the game with nothing except 2 or 3 level 12 Lances, and a bunch of level 12 Kitty Mages.
The Lance strat starts becoming useful in Hard where the bosses have a lot more health than in Normal. It continues to stay useful in Hell, God and Primeval although the special bosses Kitty Sorceror and Barrier will be impervious to this strat.
The strategy is slightly weak on crowd control due to the time taken to kill enemies so the supports are equally important to maximise its effectiveness.
What is needed for the Lance strategy?
- Lancelot 6 (ideally 12)
- Kitty Mage 6 (ideally 12)
- Batman 6
- Rocket Chu 6
- Lazy Taoist 6
- Monopoly Man 6
Lance 6
The mainstay of the strategy. You need to upgrade the Flame passive in-game with luck stones (max 10 times) to increase the effectiveness of the passive. At max level, Flame will deal 2.2% of the enemy's max health per skill damage (3.3% at Lance 12) for 22% (or 33% at Lance 12) per ultimate. Note that this will be affected by the HP Prop Damage reduction debuff in each difficulty but still continues to be effective.
Lance's exclusive treasure lets him start out with his % health skill upgraded from the start, saving you luck stones on upgrading his passive. It also increases his MP Regen which is important to get his ultimate to trigger more often.
Kitty 6
Kitty is the other cornerstone of the strategy. Since Lance only does 33% damage when he does his ult, you want to trigger it as often as possible. Every Kitty Mage on the board increases all Mana Regen by +20% for both players, +40% at level 12. Kitty Mage also refills 10% MP for nearby mythics when it ults, +20% at level 12. So Kitty Mage is twice as powerful at level 12.
Batman 6
Batman is a useful starter DPS for when you get the Tiger Legendary. As you cannot control the Legendary you get from merges and roulettes, you want to have a viable DPS option for each Legendary. Batman is good early on as his ATK boost from his Bat UP passive contributes a good amount of damage. You want to target +11 to +13 for his passive. Later in the game as your Safe Box level rises, the Money Gun ATK boost will outstrip the impact from his passive. But until then, he is a cheap option (as long as you stop at level 6) who will be useful in the early to mid-Hard and early Hell.
Chu 6
Chu is the DPS you want for the War Machine Legendary. His Overclocked form has solid base ATK and great skill damage multipliers. Level 6 increases the Overclock chance from 35% to 50% which makes it more consistent. Chu continues to be useful in Hell and God (though requiring level 12 by then).
Overclock Chu at bosses during the early to mid-game and immediately during the late game. His explosion on failure will deal good damage to bosses in the early to mid-game but will be negligible during the lategame. Do not leave Chu in his base form in the late game.
Tao 6
Tao is the DPS for the Storm Giant Legendary. Level 6 unlocks his Eye of the Storm passive which increases his damage by up to 400% depending on how the far the enemy is from Tao. He is the strongest mythic DPS for Storm Giant and continues to be useful in Hell and God (though requiring level 12 by then).
He starts off feeling weaker to most because his base ATK is not very high. But his skill damage multipliers are good which means that the sb/mg ATK boost benefits him greatly.
Mono 6
Mono is an important support for this strategy because of how luck stone-intensive it is. Upgrading Lance's passive to the max level will cost 20 luck stones (2 stones x 10). A side benefit is that Mono's ultimate executes a normal mob which helps a little with crowd control.
How does this strategy work?
This strategy revolves around summoning Lances with your Sheriffs, one or two DPS with your other Legendaries in early to mid-game and spamming Kitties, Eagle Generals and having a proper stunlock set up.
You're looking at 2 to 3 Lances upfront by W60 to deal sufficient damage to the tankier enemies and bosses. You may need to swap the Lances to make sure any Lances which are out of range of the bosses can fire their ultimate and start charging again.
In the early to mid-game, if you get other Legendaries you can summon one to two DPS to be able to survive until your setup is complete. Late game after the setup is complete, you can sell other Legendaries for luck stones.
Ideally have 4-6 Kitties to boost MP Regen. You may need to swap the further Kitties in before their ultimate to ensure that it triggers while in range of all your Lances (and Monos). In the sample board above, The rear 5th and 6th Kitty are out of range (2 squares range, diagonally) of the Lance and Monos in the first column and would need to be swapped into a nearer position before their ultimate for maximum effect.
Have a proper stun setup. This is crucial. Minimum 3 Electro Robots and 6 Shock Robots each for both players. If your teammate is short on stuns, you will want to invest in more stuns to ensure that enemies stay stunned within Lance's attack zone. If you leak too many, you risk getting overrun as Lances take the same amount of time to kill bosses and mobs (ie. not very quickly).
With your spare unit capacity, get as many Eagles and/or Tigers as you can to increase your attack speed (+5% each). If you have Frog unlocked, each is +10% attack speed) giving you a better use for Wolves and Trees after you have enough Monos.
Mythic damage level isn't necessary for this strategy, which is good as this strat is already luck stone-intensive from having to upgrade Lance's passive. You can upgrade it a few levels early to mid-game to boost the damage of your other DPS mythics but it won't be necessary lategame. You can use it to complete summoning of the supports stated above.
Conserving coins also isn't necessary for this strategy as sb/mg ATK boost does not benefit Lance's passive. Hence from midgame onwards, once you have a decent coin stash (40-60k+ for Hard), you can max your summon level and start coin summoning to complete your setup.
